Patients leave last hospital in northern Gaza after Israeli order.
The last hospital providing healthcare services in northern Gaza is no longer operational after the Israeli military ordered the immediate evacuation of patients and halted its activities, the hospital's director has said.
Dr. Mohammed Salha told the BBC that patients were evacuated from al-Awda Hospital in Jabalia on Thursday evening after "two weeks of siege," and now "there is no functioning health facility in the north."
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have not yet responded regarding the matter.
This comes as efforts continue to reach a ceasefire. Hamas says it is "thoroughly reviewing" a U.S. proposal, which the White House says has been "signed" by Israel.
U.S. President Donald Trump said on Friday that he believes an agreement is "very close." However, Hamas has said the plan does not meet its key demands, including a commitment from Israel to end the war.
The agreement reportedly includes a 60-day ceasefire, during which Hamas would release 28 hostages — both alive and deceased — in the first week, with the remaining 30 hostages to be released once a permanent ceasefire begins.
Following the agreement, more than 1,000 Palestinian prisoners would be released, and humanitarian aid would be sent to Gaza through the United Nations and other organizations.
Israel has continued its military operation in the area, with approximately 72 people killed in attacks in the past 24 hours, according to Gaza's Hamas-run health ministry on Friday.
